JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Meteorological Engineer & Developer
Skills/Qualifications required:
- Exceptional communication skills and a can-do, team-first attitude
- Bachelors level or greater degree in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science
- Proficiency with data analysis platforms, including MATLAB, R, and others
- Strong experience with meteorological data formats and software, including Grib, Grib2, GrADS, GEMPAK, LDM and NOAAPORT
- Experience analyzing datasets from global numerical weather prediction models
- Experience with data visualization
- Considerable experience with statistical analysis techniques for weather data
- Knowledge or experience linking weather analysis to industry operations in energy, agriculture, retail, insurance, media or other applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with web development and design, specifically experience with PHP, HTML, MySQL, UNIX, LINUX, Bootstrap, Apache and NGINX
- Knowledge of JIRA for development and customer support
- Experience with ECMWF data
- Experience with broadcast television weather software
Responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to:
- Must be able to work independently while maintaining collaboration with the team
- Program, modify, debug, integrate, and test applications pertaining to weather data
- Assist with maintenance of company servers, legacy code and products
- Maintain a suite of operational weather models on both the global and regional scale
- Development high-quality application code, keeping current with the latest industry standards and best practices
- Develop research methods to become the basis for new products
- Provide customer, product and sales support as needed
- Continued development of proprietary, unique applications
- Other duties as assigned
