Heat blasted into the northeast the last few days but it has backed off this morning.

The month to date has been cool south and east. Warmth was building central.

The last 30 days has average cool south and east, warm where its has been drier north central and west.

Cool has dominated in recent months except for brief heat bursts, mid month and again early May.

The next 5 days sees the northeast cool while the warmth is slower to ease in the Ohio Valley.

It looks like Phase 1 of the MJO, which many models show now in place, heading in some to phase 2.

The 6 to 10 day is colder central and east, looking like phase 2.

It has been dry in the midwest the last 30 days.

The prior 30 days was wetter.

The next 10 days show a wetter pattern in the Great Lakes and Eastern Ohio Valley.

The 6 week forecast from Monday night was wet.

This is consistent with the latest WeatherBELL Pioneer statistical model.
